What is included with the Cage?
With the purchase of our Cage we will include a 3.25"x.5" strip of spring steel and a coaster! The spring steel strip may be attached to almost any surface with flat head screws or nails, so the Cage can be mounted with the magnets. Also, one could use something like Gorilla glue. We do not provide screws, nails, or glue.
What is included with a BareTops bottle opener?
With the purchase of our bottle openers you will have all the hardware necessary to mount the item to a wall, post, or nearly any other surface. This will include four screws, anchors, and finish washers. But wait, that isn't all; because you are you, we'll throw in a coaster, too!
Can I mount a BareTops bottle opener outside?
Due to the fact they are made of wood, this really depends on the amount of moisture the bottle opener will be exposed to. The more moisture then the quicker it will deteriorate. Ideally, the opener could occassionally use a coat of beeswax applied with a detail sprayer or something similar. In this manner the opener could withstand much more exposure. A golden opener would likely weather better than a Castle Rock or Boulder.
How do I care for the copper?
If you would like the keep the copper shiney it will need to be periodically cleaned and coated with oil. To do this, purchase something like Bartenders Keep and mineral oil.
First, rinse the copper in hot water. Then use the cleaner and a toothbrush and lightly scrub the all the metal until it is clean. Once clean, rinse well and dry with a towel.
Once dry, use another toothbrush to lightly coat the metal with mineral oil.
How do I mount the Cage?
When it comes to mounting the Cage, there are a few ways to go about it. First, it can simply stick to any appliance that is magnetic, but not all are. Secondly, mount the spring steel plate that is provided to your desired location with flathead screws or nails. Due to the nature of how magnets work it may be desireable to add a small finish nail, near the middle or lower part of the Cage, on the location the plate is attached. This will provide additional support. Our bottle openers are designed to take this into account and the plate is actually recessed so the magnets cannot "slip" off. Magnets have a "pull" strength, which makes them strong when pulling perpendicular to the surface. On the otherhand, a magnet is not as strong when pulled in parallel. Lastly, provide approximately seven inches of clearance from the bottle opener in order to provide clearance when opening your beverage.
How do I mount a BareTops bottle opener?
When it comes to mounting a BareTops bottle opener there are a few ways to go about it. First, is a direct mount such as to a post or studs. For these situations, simply use the provided screws and finish washers and mount directly to the surface. Send, if the bottle opener is mounted on drywall or something similar, then use the provided anchors. You can use the screws to mark the hole locations for drilling a hole for the anchor, with attention to ensuring it is level. Once the holes are drilled, simply push the anchor in and then use the screws and finish washers to mount the bottle opener.
